The new Apple tablet computer…
Of course the news is dominated today with talk of the new Apple tablet computer… But I can’t say I share the excitement. I work with a PC all day, every day and have done for quite a few years now (yes a PC – I never bought into the Apple hype, or MAC logic, and the only time I had one I put a PC emulator on it). My PC is a tool, it’s what I use to work. Looking at the new tablets – which it’s claimed will fill the gap between the iPhone and notebooks I can’t imagine for one minute being able to be comfortably used for me to complete a days work.
It looks to me like a big iPhone, it looks like more of a toy to me than a serious machine – yeah, maybe it’s okay for the likes of say a lawyer or such banging out a couple of letters in the airport on the way somewhere, but for what I do, it’s just not really practical – I like that 90 degree angle between my keyboard and my screen! And, I like to leave my PC on my desk. I’m the same with phones – I only ever use it as, well, a phone -(perhaps occasionally the camera) – I really don’t have the time to mess about with games and gadgets…
No – it’s not for me, it looks like an iPhone upgrade! It’s more entertainment than serious USABLE technology. I’ll pass…
