Woman of the week – Christina Applegate

ca2 Writing about Sofia Vergara last week and how it seems to me that Modern Family is an updated version of Married With Children got me thiking…. About Christina Applegate.

If you were around in the 80’s and 90’s it would have been difficult not to notice Christina Applegate as Kelly Bundy in Married With Children as the archetypal dumb blonde teenager. I loved the series – without it there would have been no Modern Family, nor I guesss a plethora of other comedies of this genre – there was something very clever about Married With Children… I’ve often wondered to if the series was a possible inspiration or influence for The Simpsons.

She’s had a rough time the last couple of years having had breast cancer and subsequently a double mastectomy. Read the rest of this entry »
