Don’t buy Christmas presents…

It will probably make me sound like some kind of Scrooge character – but, apart from my kids (and my dad this year who’s staying with us) I don’t buy Christmas presents. It seems like a total waste of money to me – and I’m more that a little tired of all the holiday marketing that seems to start earlier and earlier each year. I tell people not to buy for me but some still do – but I insist if they must that they don’t spend much money.

My wife and I since we met don’t buy anything for each other either at Christmas or birthdays and haven’t since we met. What’s the point, it’s OUR money we are spending and we just prefer to buy what we want and need, when we want and need it. A nice meal and each other company is usually as far as we go with most celebrations of any kind…

Back to the holidays… they have just become so over-commercialized it’s beyond belief. It seems that people all over the world get themselves into financial difficulties because of the intense pressure to spend placed on them by stores and their own family as they feel the need to equal the spend of better off family members.

I also don’t buy into the ‘good will to all men thing’, why the hell can’t we be nice to each other all the time…? And just avoid the people we don’t get on with holidays or not… The religious aspect is meaningless to me – I’m an atheist – so do not feel the need to celebrate the birth of a fictional historical character. I loved Christmas when my kids were young, but now they are teenagers it’s lost it’s charm!

To tell you the truth I’m not sure what it means to me any more – perhaps all it is to me is a great meal, an excuse to close our business down for a few days, and a bit of time to spend with family (the ones I like), and friends.

As I write this, people the world over buying things they can’t afford for people that in many cases don’t either need or want their gifts – getting themselves into financial difficulty – whilst elsewhere other people starve.

Christmas! What a crock…!!!!

Why not use the money to help people less fortunate than you instead…

Make sure that that your retailer has a either their own secure server or that their payment partner is hosted on a secure server. Normally the site will have an information page detailing the sites policy on payments and privacy. Most good sites will also let you know how soon it will be for your order to be delivered. Usually it will be within one to two days for available stock items. But it is important to note what the sites policy is with respect to stock. The last thing you want to do is order your lady some sexy lingerie and then have to wait weeks for it to be delivered.

By the way, you may also want to check what the sites return policy is, just in case you get the size wrong or she hates what you’ve bought for her. What are the most popular items to get for your girl without making her feel like a porn star or cheap. (Although that could be a fun theme if you’re both open minded & can enjoy a laugh together) Generally something luxurious like a sexy corset or a baby doll will be a winner. and other women’s underwear come in a number of styles and colours, so make sure you select something that will suit her personality.
