Do something good – and get your money back…
Okay, so we all spend our money on cars, motorcycles, boats, gadgets, computers and heaven knows what else. Of course we do – we live in a consumer society – it’s expected of us!
It may be a bit contentious, but I’m not a big fan of giving to charity – for three main reasons..
1. To many religious affiliations and agendas – I never support religion in any way.
2. I question how much actually gets to the end of the chain after the administrators, fund raisers and staff have taken their cut.
3. So many causes are just a bottomless pit with no real possibility of sustainability.
Here’s a major exception we do support.
Kiva is a non-profit organization that genuinely does change lives in the most sustainable way possible. They facilitates loans in $25 units to small business people in struggling economies (microfinance). Best of all you even get you $25 back to either put in your pocket or repeat the process.
What better way is there of helping than giving people the means to stand on their own two feet!
Do take a look at the Kiva website to see what a difference you could make.
