Laser eye surgery is now the most common elective surgery there is – mainly down to the fact that it is safer now as it ever has been and the results are amazing. As a guy laser eye surgery has so many benefits some obvious some not so obvious. Below are my top 3 reasons to have laser eye surgery:

Sport: If you are like most guys and love playing sport then there is nothing more annoying than having to wear glasses or contact lenses. If you have ever seen anyone walk onto the footy field wearing glasses you can almost guarantee they aren’t going to be blessed with much talent! If you genuinely don’t have any talent then the last thing you want to do is announce this to the rest of the world by wearing glasses before you have even kicked a ball! Undoubtedly contact lenses are a better option but who can be bothered having to worry about putting them in before a game. As well as that they can easily get knocked out during sport and if any mud gets in your eye it will sting like hell!

Attracting the opposite sex! : Let’s be honest, this is what most guys plan their lives around! Pretty much everything we do aims to increase our chances of getting lucky with that cute blonde or brunette! But then we go and put our glasses on and our chances of attracting a member of the opposite sex takes a serious nose dive! There is no question that people with glasses are way less attractive to the opposite sex than those without them, that is unless you’re hoping to gain some attention of a geek type girl! Again contact lenses are better option but at some point you are going to have to remove them and your new lady friend will see you for the real glasses wearing person you are!

Feeling good about yourself: There is no doubt yourself esteem will take a serious boost after having laser eye surgery. For most people not having good vision has been a source of dissatisfaction all their lives. Something that they weren’t happy about themselves. Laser eye surgery will get rid of this imperfection leaving you feeling like a new man!

The bottom line is if you wear glasses or lenses then there is a genuine solution you could consider. You will be hard pushed to find anyone who has had laser vision correction who says it isn’t the best money they ever spent. Once you have had laser eye surgery you will find yourself with this smug grin on your face for many years to come. Treatment saver is a website that aims to give you all the information you could ever need about laser eye surgery. Boring as it may be, be sure to your homework on the procedure before you go get it done.

75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.

(Likely applies to half the world population)

In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is mistaken for hunger.

Even MILD dehydration will slow down one’s metabolism as 3%.

One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of Washington study.

Lack of water, the number 1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.

A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page.

Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer. Are you drinking the amount of water you should drink every day?

COKE

In many states the highway patrol carries two gallons of Coke in the trunk to remove blood from the highway after a car accident.

You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of Coke and it will be gone in two days.

To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and let the ‘real thing’ sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous china.

To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminium foil dipped in Coca-Cola.

To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.

To loosen a rusted bolt: Apply a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.

To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminium foil, and bake. Thirty minutes before ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.

To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of Coke into the load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your windshield.

Did you know?

The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. It will dissolve a nail in about four days. Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase of osteoporosis.

To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate) the commercial trucks must use a hazardous material place cards reserved for highly corrosive materials.

The distributors of Coke have been using it to clean engines of the trucks for about 20 years!

There may be different suggestions when it comes to carving out that lovely six-pack, however, it is important to know what works or what does not before you get engaged in any program to ensure you are getting realistic and not imaginary results. Here are three things which will not give you immediate output but will help tremendously in achieving your goal of flat, sculpted abs.

Clean Up Your Diet

This is considerably the most important thing you should get control of before proceeding with other things to develop rock-hard, six-pack abs. Physical workout is vital but proper diet is crucial as you have to lose body fats so that the muscles will come out visibly. One problem with cleaning up diet is that there are so many confusions regarding what is a proper, nutritional diet that promotes fat reduction or what is not.

The media has created a circus with different versions of diet books and programs that it has become difficult which one to trust. But the most important thing in this case is to remember having a diet high in fiber contents, less in calories and simple carbohydrates, more on nutritional content that will help develop muscles, increase your metabolism and burn fats at the same time.

Work With Your Whole Body

Although your goal is to develop rock, solid muscles on your lower abdomen, it is not a good thing to do exercises specifically for abdominal muscles alone. It is vital that you work out on the whole of your body’s group muscles as this is the way to have the most metabolic response in losing those stubborn body fats. Conversely, your workouts need not focus on the quantity but rather on the quality. High intensity workouts, with short break periods in between, will work best with the biggest muscle groups; which is in contrary to isolating specific small muscle regions by doing biceps, triceps, and calves.

Train Your Abdominal Muscles

When the fats around the belly are reduced, it would be easier to train your abs to develop muscles. Sit-ups and crunches are the usual abs exercises that many people do. They are great to those people who were really de-conditioned. However, if you are already undergoing a kind of training or workout, they would do little to improvement of your muscles around the belly for the reason that crunches and sit-ups produce little resistance. If you haven’t been aware, resistance is the thing that actually works to tone and develop the muscles.

If you really want to carve out that six-pack, you have to train your abdominal muscles with a better stimulus. Meaning, you have to look for a kind of abs training with a great strength which will increase resistance to work specifically on the muscles around the abdomen. There are different resistance abs exercises which will work out with you to get that six-pack abs, so consider most properly when it is time for you to train your abdominal muscles.

Every now and then we do deal with some serious topics on this site… This is one of them! I wonder how many people reading this actually know how to administer CPR?

Perhaps many people think they do, but if it came to the crunch do you really know? It’s a basic piece of knowledge we should all be equipped with – and, trust me, having seen it on TV shows is no substitute for proper training. And, even if you have been properly trained how, you need to check your information from time to time – guidelines change.

As a starter, this video is well worth looking through (further on there is a real life example).

Personally, I think CPR (and basic first aid), should be taught as a requirement in schools around the world from a very early age. Every kid knows how to call 911 – but how many without the help of a 911 operator would have the knowledge to keep someone alive in an emergency? Hell, why couldn’t we give them an annual refresher course too – so that by the time kinds leave school the basics of lifesaving are second nature to them? Imagine how many lives could be saved?

Why not go away after reading this and find a local first aid course? It’s one of the most valuable and satisfying skills you’ll ever learn!

We’d like to thank Adam from Blokebuddy in the UK who prompted us to write this after seeing a recent post he’d done on the subject.

No - this isn't really me...

I mostly drink wine – and if I’m honest with myself have had a drink in some way, shape or form most evenings for a very long time. Not every evening – but most. I rarely – if ever – drink during the day. And I never drink when entertaining clients or working (I know I have a habit of having just one more than I should – never good for business). As far as my ‘get myself fit’ project goes – drinking is number one on the list of things to sort out!

This has been on my mind for some time after having some friends for dinner. The conversation turned to our drinking habits and one of my friend relayed an article he had read about “functional alcoholics”. Half jokingly we all came to the conclusion that if we weren’t already, we were coming very close to this fitting into the definition. Loosely the definition being someone who drinks regularly and can still function perfectly normally to all intents and purposes… Like us our friends drink every night – and run a successful business without alcohol affecting their performance. And, we’ve all been doing just that for years.

This was what got me started thinking about this big health kick I’m starting right now…

So how do I plan to adjust my ways on drinking? I’m no expert but I do know myself – here’s my approach…

The first thing is to weigh up the pro’s and cons…

In favour of drinking

1. This is the big one for me – it helps me sleep – I have something of a hyperactive mind that without drink steps into overdrive and will keep me awake for hours. I still wake up early so don’t get enough sleep.

2. Occasionally – but increasingly less – it leads to having great evening.

3. Some of my best ideas have come when bouncing around abstract concepts over a few drinks.

Against drinking

1. Obvious health implications – I’m sure I don’t need to list them, we all have it rammed down our throats constantly by the self-righteous amongst us.

2. Lose some weight (part of the overall plan for this year!)

3. Save money – wine is very cheap where I live so we only usually drink cheap stuff, but it all adds up nonetheless.

4. Paying the government even more tax than I do already!

4. Set a better example to my kids!

It’s a no brainer really when you stack it up in this way. So why are these habits we have so hard to break?

I’m no saint – and being realistic I very much doubt I could go for total abstinence so I have set myself a couple of very simple goals…

1. NO drinking at home unless entertaining.

2. Only drinking socially when out (usually about once a week) – and try to keep it to sensible levels. I really must learn to say no sometimes!

3. If I still suffer from sleeping problems after a couple of week look for some kind of herbal solution in the local health store.

I’m working on the principle that keeping it simple, and sticking to it is going to be more achievable than beating myself up over it and going completely cold turkey…
